I may have found a solution to my oil pan being too large. I've been told that an alfetta pan will fit and it has a more conventional shape. I will do some research to confirm this.

Glad to hear about this.
Once I get my 81 Spider on the road, I will be doing the same thing. I bought my copy of the chapman book in 1999.
Amoung my parts hoard, is an alfetta engine. I will have to drill the crank to make it work with the spider transmission.
